This listing is for a very unique, hand-made sterling silver pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have combined my two careers of goldsmith/jewelry designer and artifact restoration to create a line of metal detecting jewelry. This pendant is a precision replica, modeled from an 1840s to Civil War era Confederate Republic of Texas / Army, Lone Star button (Alberts TX5 / Tice TX202). These very rare buttons were worn during the 1840s - 1860s by troops fighting for the newly formed Republic of Texas. Independence from Mexico was won with the victory at San Jacinto River in April 21, 1836 and shortly thereafter, Texans formed a Republic. Many very proud Texans continued to use the same buttons up through the American Civil War! 
• This pendant is NOT an actual Civil-War period artifact!! 
• This particular style of Republic of Texas Army button was manufactured in 1840 by the Scovill Button Company in Waterbury, Connecticut. The design utilizes a single star with a beaded border, on a lined background and the words: REPUBLIC OF TEXAS / ARMY on the perimeter. The buttons are three-piece construction with a flat outer rim. As with most other Texas varieties of buttons (all considered quite rare), these buttons have been found in camps and battlefields throughout the South wherever Texas troops were present. All details of this button's design are sharp and crisp in the execution of the silver pendant replica. The bail on this pendant is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.
