Sterling Silver Confederate TENNESSEE State Seal Button Civil War Relic Pendant

Sterling Silver Confederate TENNESSEE State Seal Button Civil War Relic Pendant

This listing is for a very unique, hand-made pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have combined my two careers of goldsmith/jewelry designer and artifact restoration to create a line of metal detecting jewelry. This pendant is modeled from an actual Confederate, local-made TENNESSEE State Seal button (Alberts TN4 / Tice TN200A) that was worn during the American Civil War by the hard-fighting Tennessee regiments! The Tennessee State seal button is easily among the absolute top five of most desirable, rare and costly Confederate buttons among collectors and relic hunters. The beautiful design incorporates a mid-19th century riverboat centered at the bottom of the design. Above the boat are implements representing agriculture, including: sheaves of wheat, a horse-drawn plow and a scythe. To the right of the plow and scythe are 3 beehives. In the background, behind the plow are what appear to be stars, but these are actually meant to represent cotton plants. Above this, is a ribbon with words from the state motto: "AGRICULTURE / COMMERCE". There were only two buttons issued during the Civil War to represent the State of Tennessee. They were basically the exact same design, just different dies with slightly different executions of that design. This version is the most rare and, in my opinion, the most beautiful of the two. The buttons are believed to have be made by Casimir Rouyer, A French immigrant to New Orleans that was a jeweler and silversmith. Mr. Rouyer produced many beautiful buttons for the Confederate States during the Civil War. These buttons were stamped from a very thin-gauge brass and often had a weak stamping. The design on this button replica is strong so that all elements of the design can be seen. The bail on this pendant is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.

If you are in need of a nice sterling silver chain on which to wear the pendant, please check out my other listings. My recommended chain style for my pendant line is a 2.5 mm diameter sterling silver wheat style chain. There are several listings for the following lengths: 18" , 20", 24” and 30”.

This is a unique pendant design that you will not find anywhere else!
